Short trip to AICS, RIKEN “K” supercomputer

K (corresponding to the Japanese word "kei" “京”, which represents 10^16) is a supercomputer installed at AICS, RIKEN, Kobe, Japan. K computer was ranked the fastest computer by TOP500 in 2011 and now it is ranked as the fourth fastest computer by TOP500 and the fastest computer by GRAPH500. This trip involves a visit to the K supercomputer's state-of-the-art facility.

Short trip to “Fukuju” brewery

Fukuju is one of the most famous sake (Japanese alcohol) brands from Kobe. The trip involves a visit to Fukuju's brewery in Kobe. The visitors will be able to experience an authentic feel for the age-old tradition of sake brewing and the heart of Japan as expressed by the art and craft of producing sake. During the tour visitors have the opportunity to:

  • Observe sake makers in person (reservation required)
  • Taste Fukuju's various sakes (free of charge)
  • Purchase sake at the shop & cellar
  • Enjoy a variety of entertainment programs performed at the wooden brewery hall
